- You need: The “Delete roles” permission
Steps
1
Open Settings → Roles and choose the role.
2
Choose Delete role.
3
If the role has members, choose a replacement role under Move these users to.
The members are moved and the role is deleted in one step, so no one is left without a role.
4
Confirm with Delete role.
Deleting a role is permanent. Recreate it by hand if you need it later.
The four rules
Rule
What happens
No deleting a role that has members without a replacement
The number of members shows, so you choose a replacement role
No workspace without someone to manage roles
Any edit, deletion or deactivation that would leave the workspace without anyone who can edit roles is refused
Explicit confirmation to remove your own access
If you remove the permission to manage roles from yourself, you’re asked to confirm explicitly
No granting above what you have
You can’t grant a switch or a level higher than the ones you have
The owner and super admins are exempt from the last rule, because they have everything.
