Embed a web page in a dashboard by its URL

Show an outside page (a map, an analytics report, a published spreadsheet) inside the dashboard through an HTTPS link.

3 min
Before you start · for owners and managers
Edit access to the dashboard
  • You need: Edit access to the dashboard

Steps

1
In Edit layout, press Add widget, choose Embed and press Continue. In Content source, choose URL.
2
In URL, paste a link that starts with https://.
3
Press Continue, then press Add widget.

How it works

The page shows in a frame isolated from Corteksa, with a badge naming the outside site.

The link is checked when you save and every time it’s shown: https only, no username or password inside it, and not from Corteksa’s own domain.

The page itself isn’t checked: every viewer sees it as its site serves it. Some sites block being shown inside a frame.

It doesn’t support viewing details or CSV, and in the PDF, placeholder text shows in its place.

If something goes wrong

Use a public link that starts with https.
An empty frame
The site blocks being shown inside a frame.
Use the site’s “publish” or “embed” link.
The widget shows an error to editors and is hidden from viewers

Edit the link.

A real example

Shield Security Co.
The situation

A map of client locations on Google Maps.

What they did
  1. They embedded the published map’s link next to the visits table.
The result

The visits coordinator sees the locations and the table together.

A made-up company, to show the idea. The numbers are rounded.

Good to know

The link can be up to 2,048 characters.
https only.
It doesn’t need the HTML permission; edit access to the dashboard is enough.
