Turn on line items mode: quantity, price, tax and total

Turn the catalog into a quote builder: each line has a quantity, a price and a total, and Corteksa works out the subtotal, the tax and the total.

A multi-select Smart Catalog, a price field in the source unit
  • You need: The permission to edit units, for the setup
  • A Smart Catalog with multi selection, and a source unit that has a numeric or currency price field.

Steps

1
Open the catalog’s settings and turn on Line items mode.
2
Choose the Price field in the source.
3
Set the Default quantity (1 by default).
4
Decide whether to turn on Allow per-row unit price override (off by default).
5
Set the Decimal precision (2 by default).
6
Save.

In the record

  • Choose the products, and each product’s price is copied at the moment you pick it.
  • Change the quantity on each line.
  • Each line’s total = quantity × price (minus the discount, if you added a discount column), rounded to the decimal places you set.
  • Enter the record’s tax rate, from 0 to 100%.
  • The subtotal, the tax and the total show.

The price is saved when it’s picked

Changing a product’s price later doesn’t change old quotes. And deleting the product keeps its price in the quote.

If you allow the price to be changed, a change is accepted on each line and logged, because changing a price is a financial decision.

Using it in formulas and quotes

SUM_LINES({items}) gives the subtotal before tax. An example of a total with 15% tax: ROUND(SUM_LINES({items}) * 1.15, 2).

In the table’s column totals, the catalog supports Sum only, which is the total of the subtotals before tax.

In documents, the subtotal, tax and total rows show.
