Show only the catalog products that fit the record
Narrow the catalog picker by comparing a field in the current record with a field in the products, such as “Unit price ≤ Project budget” or “Product city = Client city”.
Press Add matching rule: a field from the current record, then the operator, then a field from the source.
3
Add more rules if you want. They all apply together.
4
You can turn off a rule without deleting it.
5
Save.

Equals, Does not equal
Both sides of a rule must be from the same group. These don’t work for matching: Relation, Lookup, Rollup, Calculation, File, Photo, Location, Multi-select and Smart Catalog.
Options are compared by their meaning: “Riyadh” in the record matches “Riyadh” in the products’ field, even if they’re two different fields.
Formatted text is compared by its text, with the formatting removed.
In the picker
The picker shows the conditions that apply as chips, and the number of hidden items, such as “23 items hidden by matching”. Choose Show all items to ignore the rules once, or remove the chip of one condition.
Permissions always apply, even with Show all items.
A rule never stops the picker from opening
Why the rule is skipped
What it means
Rule disabled
You turned it off in the settings
Dismissed
You removed its chip
No value on this record
There’s no value to compare
Field configuration is broken
One of the two fields was deleted or deactivated
Currency mismatch
Both fields are currency fields, in two different currencies
Value can’t be compared
There’s no number to compare
Type not matchable
The field’s type changed after the rule was saved
The old automatic matching
A catalog with no rules set matches automatically on the fields shared between the two units. To stop that completely, save an empty list of rules.
An empty value in the source column doesn’t match with any operator.

What to do
A message that the two fields’ types aren’t compatible
The two sides are from different groups.
Choose two fields of the same type.
A message that the operator isn’t valid for the type
Such as “Greater than” on text.
Use Equals or Does not equal.
A message about going past 10 rules
Too many rules.
Merge or delete some of them.
The picker is empty
The rules exclude everything.
Choose Show all items and check the values.
A real example
Shield Security Co.
The situation
The technician picks spare parts that don’t fit the type of system on site.
What they did
Rule: “System type” in the visit equals “Compatible system” in the parts.
Rule: “Budget” ≥ “Part price”.
The result
The picker shows only the parts that fit, with a Show all items option when needed.
A made-up company, to show the idea. The numbers are rounded.
