Comment and mention teammates inside a record

Discuss a client inside their record: comment, mention a teammate with @, reply in a thread, react with an emoji, and attach images.

  • You need: Permission to view the record

Steps

1
Open the Comments tab in the record.
2
Type your comment. Type @ and choose a teammate to send them a notification.
3
Type @@ to mention another record. See Mention another record in a comment with @@.
4
Attach images if you want.
5
Use Reply for a threaded discussion, and add an emoji reaction.

Who can see and comment

Anyone who can see the record can comment on it. Anyone who can’t see it doesn’t see its comments.

Editing and deleting

Only the comment’s author can edit or delete it. The workspace owner and super admins can do this on any comment. Editing changes only the text, and deleting is permanent.

A real example

Shield Security Co.
The situation

A technician finds a fault on site and needs the manager’s approval for a spare part.

What they did
  1. He attached a photo of the fault in a comment and wrote @Manager.
  2. The manager replied in the same thread with his approval.
The result

The decision is recorded inside the contract instead of getting lost in an outside chat.

A made-up company, to show the idea. The numbers are rounded.

Good to know

Attachments are images only: JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, SVG, TIFF, BMP and HEIC, up to 5 MB per image.
An image repeated in the same comment is saved once.
An emoji is up to 32 characters.
A mention you add while editing a comment doesn’t send a notification.
Comments show 50 per page.
