When you get a notification, and why

You get a notification when a record is assigned to you, someone mentions you, a record you can see changes, a message arrives, or a due date is near. You don’t get notified about a change you made yourself.

Who’s notified when a record changes

Everyone allowed to see it: the owner and super admins, anyone with Allowed, anyone with Team-wide access when one of the record’s assignees is in their team, and anyone with If responsible who is one of the assignees. See Permissions: Allowed, Team-wide access, If responsible, Denied.

Push notifications

On your phone, notifications arrive automatically once you allow them. In the browser, choose Enable Notifications. They use the language saved in Edit your profile, language, time zone and calendar.

Opening a notification

Each notification opens the record or page it’s about. Opening the notifications list doesn’t mark them as read: a notification is marked as read when you click it, or when you choose Mark this tab as read.

You don’t get notified when a teammate comments on a record

A real example

Basma Clinics
The situation

The receptionist kept missing callback times.

What they did
  1. The manager assigned her call tasks with a due time.
  2. The receptionist turned on notifications on her phone.
The result

She gets an alert an hour before each due time, so she doesn’t miss a patient.

A made-up company, to show the idea. The numbers are rounded.

Good to know

For now, you can’t delete a notification, and there’s no screen to mute certain types.
Reading a chat marks its notification as read for the whole team.
Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp Cloud messages don’t show in the Messages tab for now.
An automation failure notification arrives at most once every 15 minutes for each automation.
