Add a cover page and a closing page

Design a cover with its own background and no header or page number, and a closing page that always stays the last page, however long or short the document gets.

Steps

1
For the cover: design the first page’s content, then put a page break after it.
2
Choose a background for the first page. See Add a background color or image, on every page or on one.
3
Set the header and footer to Every page except the first, and turn on Skip the first page in the page numbers.
4
For the closing page: on the last page of the design, choose Set as closing page.
A lock mark shows on the page.
5
Preview with a short record and a long one.

How the closing page behaves

When the document gets longer or shorter depending on the record:

  • The pinned elements and the background of the closing page print on the actual last page.

  • The other pinned elements stay before it. An element on a page the record no longer fills moves to the last page before the closing page, and that page’s background is removed.

The cover and the closing page show in the template’s thumbnail in the list.

The situation

The corporate proposal needs an eye-catching cover and a “Contact us” page at the end, and the number of program pages varies.

What they did
  1. A cover with a full background image and the client company’s name.
  2. A locked closing page with the contact details and a QR code.
The result

The proposal runs to 5 pages or 9, with the cover always first and the contact page always last.

A made-up company, to show the idea. The numbers are rounded.
