Steps

Open the comment thread.

Choose Reply as comment, and type your reply.

Send.
The reply is sent in the background and shows under the comment.

There’s no limit on the number of replies to one comment.
A public reply doesn’t open the private messaging window. To move to private messages, use Reply privately to a comment (Facebook and Instagram).

Images in a public reply work on Facebook only.
