Save, reorder or delete a view, and set the default

Save your filters and sort as a new view, reorder the tabs, rename a Kanban board or delete a view. Choose the view that opens first, for you personally or for the whole team.

Editing a view: the edit permission. Deleting: the delete permission
  • You need: Editing a view: the edit permission. Deleting: the delete permission

Steps

1
To keep a view with other filters or another sort, change them in the view, then press the arrow next to Save and fill in Save as new view: type the View name and press Save view. If you see Save as view instead of Save, press it.
The new view shows as a new tab at the end of the list.
2
Drag the tabs to change their order.
3
To rename a Kanban board, click its title at the top of the page, type the new name and press Enter.
4
To delete a view, right-click its tab, choose Delete View and confirm.
5
To choose the default view, right-click its tab and choose Set as default for yourself, or Set as team default for the team.

Which default view opens

When you open the unit, this opens: your personal default if you have one, then the team default, then the system view.

A team default doesn’t override anyone’s personal default.

If a default view is deleted, everyone goes back to a working view automatically.

Saving at the same time

If a teammate saves the same view before you, the message “This view changed in another tab. Reload & reapply?” shows. Press Reload & reapply.

If a field used by the view’s filter is deleted, the view keeps working, and the condition is ignored with a notice.

If something goes wrong

Why
What to do

Press Reload & reapply.
“The view settings aren’t valid for this unit”
A condition or sort uses a field it doesn’t work with.

A real example

Shield Security Co.
The situation

The technicians open the table of all contracts, but they should start with the Kanban of their visits.

What they did
  1. The owner set the “My visits” Kanban as the team default.
  2. He set his “Contracts table” view as his own default.
The result

Each technician starts with their board, and the owner starts with the full table.

A made-up company, to show the idea. The numbers are rounded.

Good to know

The unit’s main tab can’t be deleted. Clicking the title on that tab renames the unit, not a view.
A table view can’t be renamed. Save it under the new name with Save as new view, then delete the old one.
Both kinds of default view need the edit permission on the unit, and Set as team default shows only for the owner and super admins.
To stop using your personal default, right-click its tab and choose Unset default.
Deleting a view deletes only its settings, and doesn’t touch the records.
